Arch Q3 UW gain up more than tenfold to $721mn driven by reinsurance profits surge

Arch’s underwriting gain surged by more than tenfold in the third quarter to $721mn from $68mn last year, powered by reinsurance underwriting results that swung to a $310mn gain from a $197mn loss while the insurance unit swung to a $129mn profit from a $34mn loss.
