Selective’s CR jumps to 116.1% on $176mn casualty reserve charge in Q2 earnings miss

Selective Insurance Group has reported a big earnings miss for Q2 because of $176mn of casualty reserve strengthening - the majority of which was for general liability accident years 2020 to 2023 - with the US insurer saying it is “responding with additional price increases”.
