Sompo International confirms Goodloe as head of E&S casualty for US insurance
Former Ategrity CUO for brokerage John Goodloe has been named executive vice president and head of E&S casualty for US insurance at Sompo International in a move first revealed by this publication.
Goodloe will report to the Bermuda-based specialty P&C (re)insurer’s CEO of US insurance Chris Sparro and will be based in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The executive has more than three decades of primary and excess casualty experience and was most recently senior vice president and CUO, brokerage at E&S carrier Ategrity Specialty Insurance Company, where he was part of the company’s founding management team.
Commenting on the Goodloe hire, Sparro said: “He is the latest in a series of strategic management hires as we continue to expand our US insurance platform. John’s 35 years of E&S experience will be invaluable as we strengthen and broaden our team and continue to invest in the E&S wholesale market.”
Goodloe added: “I am looking forward to joining Sompo International and I’m excited to be joining a team of dedicated professionals with a strong track record of profitability and stellar relationships in the wholesale market.”
Sompo International’s E&S casualty offerings include primary business led by New York-based Mark Fuderanan and excess business led by Wayne Hummel in Atlanta and Dana Ohlson in Los Angeles.
The Insurer revealed in July that Sompo International’s head of E&S excess casualty Jarrett Long had left the carrier along with a number of his team to move to new MGA platform Tango Specialty.
This publication revealed in September that Goodloe had left Ategrity and revealed last month that he was set to re-emerge in a senior casualty E&S role at Sompo International.
The executive left around the time that Ategrity had secured a $75mn capital raise from Sequentis Financial.
Ategrity’s initial $125mn funding at launch came through hedge fund Zimmer Partners, an operating company of Sequentis.
